This unusual crab is found only on sandy seabeds where it spends a lot of time buried in the sand. Its antennae form a long snorkel-like structure to allow it to breathe while buried.

The masked crab has the ability to completely bury itself beneath the sand. The long antenna are joined to make a sort of pipe that allows the crab to breathe.
