Green Urchin

Link to Rocky Shore Animals

This echinoderm is green with purple-tipped spines. It is like a smaller version of the common urchin, and can sometimes be found amongst weed on the lower shore, although it is most at home below the low water mark. Like the common urchin it has a mouth situated on its underside, and 5 jaws which it uses to graze on seaweeds.
